About OBEX
2010
OBEX was founded in Worcester by the Francis family, initially supplying protection tapes and films to the window manufacturing industry. From the start, our focus was simple: quality products backed by exceptional service.
2013
The business quickly gained momentum. We achieved ISO 9001 certification, opened our operation in Australia, expanded into France and, most significantly, diversified into façade and through-wall membrane systems. OBEX products soon became widely specified on projects across multiple regions.
2015
The launch of the OBEX CORTEX fire-classified membrane range marked another significant milestone, including the first Class B Interface Sealing Membrane, helping contractors and designers meet the increasingly stringent regulatory and performance requirements.
2020 – 2023
Rapid growth led to a move into a purpose-built 27,500 sq.ft headquarters in 2020, but we soon needed even more space, so in 2023 we acquired another 40,000 sq.ft facility, giving us the extra space to increase production capacity, hold more stock and plan for future growth.
During the following three years, the OBEX team grew from 42 to 100 people, reflecting the company’s continued expansion.
Today
From supplying surface protection tapes and films, to a global manufacturer of façade and through-wall membranes, OBEX has undergone considerable growth and change since those early days in 2010.
But while much has changed, our commitment remains the same: developing innovative, high-quality products like RapidTray, so that the façade industry has the trusted systems it requires, to deliver safe and compliant buildings.
