“Excellent technical support and inspections, with on-site training. The standard of workmanship compliments the quality of OBEX’s products.” – Novo Facades.
The Chips is an iconic building in Manchester, designed to resemble three chips laid on top of each other. Overlooking canals on three sides, the three ‘chips’ are 100m long by 14m wide and provide 142 apartments.
Completed in 2009, the building subsequently required a full reclad, a logistically challenging project. Novo Façades rose to the challenge and were appointed to carry out this extensive remediation programme.
There were a number of interfaces within the façade build-up that required sealing with the appropriate membranes, including around the windows, along slab edges and around the balconies. These membranes were not only required to be fully compliant with the regulatory requirements but also, critically, to achieve the correct level of performance.
The full OBEX CORTEX Class B membrane systems were specified as part of the programme, including the Class B Interface Sealing Membrane and the Class B Breather Membrane.
The Novo Façades install team encountered some challenges during the install process, so OBEX visited site to provide full technical support and installation training and carried out QA inspections.
Working collaboratively in this way ensured an efficient, high quality façade installation.
